Correlation ID

Problem

Five services each produce thousands of log entries per second. You need to find the entries belonging to one customer request.

Give the operation an identifier and propagate it. Request ID: ABC123

API      → ABC123
Payment  → ABC123
Orders   → ABC123

Now logs from different systems can be connected.

Core idea: a correlation ID links events belonging to the same logical operation.
