Process

Problem

Chrome and VS Code run on the same computer. A bug in Chrome shouldn't normally let it overwrite VS Code's memory. Applications need separate execution environments.

Solution — Process

The operating system gives each process its own execution context and virtual address space.
Chrome process → memory A
VS Code process → memory B
The kernel controls access to shared resources.
Core idea: processes provide isolated execution environments for running programs.
