Database Migration

Problem

Version 1 expects: Customer(Name) Version 2 expects: Customer(Name, Email) Production data already exists. The schema must evolve without simply recreating the database.

Solution — Schema Migration

Apply versioned transformations.

Core idea: migrations make database structure evolve reproducibly alongside software.
